Civil Disobedience Penguins

Tuesday, 4 February 2020 - 9:00am
Parliament House, Canberra

If you are finding it difficult to stand by and let the LNP continue to drive our country like they stole it, be ON THE STEPS 2020 on the first sitting day of parliament.

Bring your picnic hamper, bring your signs, bring your chairs. Celebrate the death of democracy in Australia in style.

Peaceful civil disobedience is welcomed (particularly for penguins whose ice is melting) but not at all obligatory.

This is a joint exercise of mass dissatisfaction with the performance of our government. No single group is organising this protest. No-one is responsible for your actions apart from yourself.
Be aware that there may be conflicting views on the day. If we don’t start to coordinate ourselves we can’t demand the change we deserve.

If you think our government is ecocidal and is destroying everything you love most in life, please let them know by your presence and your signs. It's much harder to ignore feet on the ground than petitions.

Please feel free to design your own poster for your own interest group. Our environment is dying and our children's futures are being taken away. Act now, or forever hold your peace, because democracy in Australia is under threat.

Eco-shout national grassroots events calendar promotes actions, protests, film screenings, public forums, campaign training, workshops, conservation, revegetation and gatherings for environmental and social justice. Check out how much it's kicking off around the country - together we are lots! Add an event and we'll share it through social media at peak times and do our best to shout about it. Share the calendar with your grumpy mates who think there's nothing going on.
