National Sustainable Living Festival

Sunday, 28 February 2021 - 1:00pm to 3:00pm
online

Calling all growers, gleaners and local food lovers - you’re invited to Australia’s biggest crowd-farmed feast.

The Great Local Lunch is one of the National Sustainable Living Festival’s most anticipated sustainable food events, and this year it’s coming to backyards, kitchens and community gardens across Victoria and beyond for it’s ‘Home Cooked Edition’.

Hosted by the ABC’s Costa Georgiadis, this unique, online event is a one-of-a-kind celebration of homegrown, local and sustainably sourced food. The digital banquet is inspired by the concept of ‘crowd-farming’ and will showcase home cooked, healthy dishes full of fresh ingredients that the guests have all grown and harvested themselves.

Edible gardeners, intrepid foragers, forward-thinking foodies and everyone in between can register for their free ticket by sharing what they’re growing in their backyard or balcony veggie patches or how else they’re contributing to a more sustainable food system.

At the end of February, all the growers, gleaners, community groups and their guests will be invited to dine together at an online sustainable food spectacular. Throughout the event, Costa will ‘virtually visit’ growers' kitchens and gardens to discover what delicious, seasonal recipes they have created from their harvests. Guests will also get to watch live talks and demonstrations from other well-known sustainable food leaders, take part in interactive challenges, and win tasty prizes from local producers.

What will you bring to the table?
