Across the country
New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria

WE’RE GOING ON TOUR!
Over three jam packed weeks in June/July, a bus-load of Rising Tiders will be travelling around the country, building our rapidly growing movement and promoting the 2024 People’s Blockade. In mass gatherings, trainings and actions across 5 states/territories of Australia, we’ll build excitement for the blockade and start prepping to make it massive!

We are the rising tide of ordinary people, called by extraordinary times. We are a diverse movement demanding Australia honours our commitment to the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement. We are prepared to take whatever peaceful actions within our power to defend the climate. Newcastle coal port is the largest in the world and Australia’s largest contribution to the climate crisis. When burnt, its coal equals about 1% of global carbon emissions. A peaceful and disruptive citizens’ movement is the only way to break the fossil fuel industry’s hold on our democracy. In 2024 we will again blockade the coal port. Last year 3000 people joined in, this year lets make it 10,000.

Will you join us?

It’s time to escalate the defense of our climate. Time is short and the stakes could not be higher. Australia’s fossil fuel addiction is driving the world to the brink. We need to step up our defence of the climate by joining together to take mass direct action against the biggest threat to our future. Australia is one of the world’s largest exporters of coal and gas. The emissions from these exports dwarf our domestic climate pollution. The Port of Newcastle is the biggest coal port in the world, and Australia’s single largest contributor to the climate crisis.

“2023 is a year of reckoning. It must be a year of game-changing climate action. We need disruption to end the destruction. No more baby steps. No more excuses. No more greenwashing. No more bottomless greed of the fossil fuel industry and its enablers.”
— Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary-General
