Stop Stolen Generations

Thursday, 11 February 2016 - 12:00pm
Aboriginal Tent Embassy, King George Terrace, Parkes, Canberra

8 years since Kevin Rudd’s Apology to the Stolen Generations, more Aboriginal kids are being taken from their families than ever before. The numbers are rising rapidly, with a 42% increase in Victoria alone over the last 12 months. New, punitive regulations being introduced nationwide will see even more kids taken if we do not act now.

Grandmothers Against Removals is a national network uniting families affected by forced removal in a campaign to bring the children home and demand Aboriginal control of Aboriginal child welfare. We have held protests to mark the anniversary of the Apology over the past two years to push the issue of continuing crimes of forced removal into the national spotlight - sorry means you don't do it again! We will be marching on Parliament House in Canberra on February 11 while the politicians are sitting. We will stay at the Aboriginal Tent Embassy until teh anniversary on February 13 to continue discussions about how to take the fight forward. Please join us!
