Wominjeka Festival welcomes you to our 10th anniversary in 2020 as a celebration of the local environment and culture-sharing in the West.

At the heart of this year’s festival, Wominjeka’s Community Day offers a multifaceted display of music, ceremony and workshops for whole entire family on Saturday, 4 April.

The full weekend’s schedule welcomes you to partake in artist talks, exhibitions, film screenings and dance parties – each led by First Nations artists, curators and producers.

Wominjeka is a Ngargee, a Kulin cultural event, teaching and sharing from the Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri peoples of the greater Kulin nation.

It is an invitation to gather on the banks of the Maribyrnong to bring community – all people who dwell on Kulin lands – together. A Ngargee, where we are returning to the landscape as celebrated and emerging First Nations artists highlight and discuss environmental relationships and current issues through creating artworks, participating in yarning circles, and hosting ceremony.

Through use of ephemera, we celebrate legacy, responsibility, and custodianship with the earth and its descendants.

WHEN: Friday 3 April – Sunday 5 April

Supported by City of Maribyrnong.
