Hello! Housemate wanted for lush communal share house

We are seeking a housemate for our large four-bedroom established share-house in North Fitzroy, which we lovingly (and ironically) call our Vinyl Palace. We’d like you to move in from September 9th (possibly earlier and can be flexible for the right person).

RENT: $830 per calendar month
BOND: $795 when you move in

We have a friendly, communal, veggie-gardening, board game-playing, sustainably-minded sort of household.

ABOUT THE HOUSE:
Our home is located in a quiet, leafy pocket of North Fitzroy.
The house itself is huge, with classic Italianate design inside and out. The reason it’s fondly called the Vinyl Palace is the spectacular array of linoleum floors throughout that must be seen to be believed.

We have a great setup of garden-beds and fruit trees out back and a pretty front garden with citrus (including a lemon-mandarin hybrid, oh wow).
We have (two!) sheds out back with room to store stuff.

Our lounge includes *that* impressive feature wall, trusty projector for film nights and our regular Sunday night TV (currently X Files) and dinner night, and lots of comfy couches for hanging out or playing boardgames (which we love – we have a collection) or working on a jigsaw puzzle.

The kitchen is often filled with the smells of yumminess as we cook, bake and preserve.
We split bills evenly, have unlimited wifi and source eco-friendly, bulk/unpackaged supplies for the palace wherever possible.
We have systems for organising household chores, dishes and other tasks so that things run smoothly.

We have friendly neighbours and a cruisy landlord. We’ve just been given a two-year lease are looking for you to join us on it – we want a housemate who wants to settle into homeyness with us.

ABOUT YOUR ROOM:
Your room-to-be is approximately 4.4 x 3.6) with a large, south-facing window. It also has the cutest vinyl pattern.

TRAVEL-WISE:
It’s a 3 minute walk to Nicholson St and the 96 tram which takes you to the cbd in under half an hour.
It’s an easy walk or bike ride to Merri Creek, CERES, St Georges Road and the 11 tram, Edinburgh Gardens (and the delicious cafes and library nearby),Lygon Street restaurants and you can walk to Sydney Road in half an hour.

ABOUT YOU:

• You’re in your 30s or above (or otherwise grown up)
• Experienced in successful share-housing (and responsible in house-sharing matters)
• Looking for a communal setup: think cooking and gardening, consensus decision-making, socialising and working on household projects together. And bonding over board games!
• Interested in sharing food (we get a weekly veggie-box, buy regular groceries together and cook for each other)
• Mostly vegetarian (or willing to eat mostly veg at home) but we currently have no other hard dietary requirements. Preference is for someone with compatible food needs.

ABOUT US:

Housemate 1: I'm a 39 year old bi woman who does many things. I work in sustainability; I'm part of a cohousing group; I'm a Eurovision tragic; I'm usually up to one thing or another, often involving costumes and glitter. I lead a busy and active life and love having a friendly oasis to come home to, but also sometimes need cave time after a long day full of people. I absolutely adore our neighbourhood and am very fond of taking a twilight stroll and meeting up with my cat-buddies nearby. I like to share meals and cuppas with my house-family, play games, or veg out with some Netflix. I love to bake cakes and I'm responsible for quite a few baking experiments in the house… and I bake special cakes for housemate birthdays! I'm vegetarian and like to cook. I enjoy our clever division of labour vis a vis our system of chores - makes it not even that chore-like.

Housemate 2: I am 32,queer, woodworker and smutty handkerchief artist. I enjoy housemate dinners, good communication, housie chats and treats and a well organised space- just don’t look in my car right now! I am pretty into gaming (boardgames) particularly those which combine an ideal ratio of skill/strategy and chance. Currently obsessed with Azul. I have recently learnt the ways of loose leaf tea and am enjoying the transition into zero waste. I eat vego at home 99% of the time but do enjoy roo, wine and a few hands of 500 at the local on Mondays. When not gaming, cooking for housemate dinners, watching Killing Eve or ...working. I like going out and jumping around dancing into the wee hours.

Housemate 3: I’m a 29 year old (still working on being grown up!), straight woman. I’m a Physiotherapist part of the week and otherwise try to engage myself with all things environmental and regenerative - this leads me down various garden paths to ventures like volunteering in plant propagation, organising Repair-Cafe’s and occasionally wading in the local creek! All in the name of science I swear. I enjoy yoga and meditation, outdoor adventures, live music, snowboarding, a good glass of wine, a nonsense yarn and anything Japanesey! At home I do love a wiped bench and beautiful communal spaces to relax in where things have a home, and generally delight in getting amongst the garden and hanging out with the other excellent palace people. I'm vegetarian-ish and am currently moving from wild-foraging yummy mushrooms to cultivating them - Yay!
