Hey there friends(/potential housemates)!
Stevie, Charlie, Neil and Nate have a great permaculture-inspired sharehome lined up in Alphington, Victoria, and would love to find 1 more person (couples considered) to share it with them!
We are building a long-term home, and are hoping to find others to join us along this journey. Whether you’re in it for a year, or much more, we’d love to hear from folks with a similar enthusiasm and commitment to making a home together.
Stevie (28, she/her) is a gardener, dancer, and social justice researcher. She’s interested in building community dependence, growing and preserving food, singing in choir, playing concertina, and doing yoga. Vegetarian, mostly freegan and enjoys a rich, frugal life.
Charlie (29, he/him) recently completed his Honours in Linguistics and works (in normal times) as a stilt-walking performer. Interested in partner acrobatics, singing, languages, foraging, frisbee, and sustainable living solutions. He is also vegetarian and mostly freegan.
Neil (37, he/him) works as a neuroscientist, and is interested in acrobatics, bike riding to get places, minimalism and improvised theatre in his spare time. He gets overly excited about ideas, has a sometimes diligent, sometimes inconsistent meditation practice, and often works more than is good for him (because he loves his job).
Nathan (38, he/him) works in video production and is interested in trail running, comedy, trekking in different countries, yoga, dogs, financial independence, camping, podcasts, music documentaries, high quality television series, community, meditation (learning). Currently pescatarian and left-handed.
We’re 2 vegetarians, 1 pescatarian and 1 occasional meat eater, LGBTIQ+ friendly, anti-racist and anti-sexist, and environmentally conscious. Charlie and Stevie are avid freegans, who source an abundance of nutritious foods through growing on-site, dumpstering, gleaning and foraging. We all value tolerance, kindness, equality, fairness, understanding, empathy, humour, hope and fun!
Overall, our vision is to have a welcoming, supportive home where we spend time together, but also have the personal space we need :) We’re looking forward to having pot-luck dinners, game/movie nights, singalongs, pickling afternoons and more.
Ongoing projects at the house will include things like food production i.e. seedling raising, setting up garden beds, hot composts; plus preserving, and making friends with the chickens.
It has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (pretty sweet with no ensuite!), 2 living spaces and a shared office space. The house also has a large laundry / workshop area at the back. House has floorboards throughout, and carpet bedroom 4. The kitchen was updated 5 years ago, and the 2 bathrooms were just renovated. It has 1kw of solar panels, and a chicken coop. There are also 7 established fruit trees, several large veggie beds and a large ornamental grape covering the back patio.
The house is located one block away from Darebin Parklands, close to shops and cafes, on the 508 bus line and a 9 minute to walk to the 250/350 bus lines and Alphington train station.
Bedroom 4 is available (see floor plan)
Rent is approx. $720pcm (plus bills), paid monthly in advance.
Available November 30
(Please excuse poor quality/quantity of photos, house is being vacated, carpeted and painted by owners presently - will update as we can - just imagine lots of indoor plants, various decor, rays of sunshine, a chicken in a diaper etc etc)
