Climate Action Network Australia

Tuesday, 17 August 2021 - 9:00am to Thursday, 19 August 2021 - 9:00pm
online

We invite you to join us for the Better Futures Forum, 17-19 August, 2021, to drive nationwide climate action. This online event provides an opportunity to interact with and be inspired by climate champions across all corners of society and the economy, hear about actions they are taking, and learn how we can work together to create better futures for us all.

Leaders in energy, business, finance, health, agriculture, transport, local and state government, unions and First Nations communities will showcase their plans and achievements in reducing carbon emissions, and publicly launch their collective commitment to ambitious national climate action. Providing a unique platform for the robust exchange of ideas, the BFF will help catalyse the innovations and opportunities of the energy transformation, and is timed for maximum influence on the Australian position at the UN Climate Conference in November.

The virtual event brings together visionary leaders from every sector of the
economy and society who are accelerating the transition to better, healthier and more prosperous, zero emissions futures.

Keynote speakers include the globally eminent Ban Ki-moon, former Secretary-General of the United Nations; NSW Energy Minister Matt Kean; CEO of HESTA superfund, Debby Blakey; CEO of Vulcan Energy, the world’s only zero carbon lithium miner Dr. Francis Wedin; and Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Sandy Verschoor.

They will be joined by a diverse lineup of experts including senior leaders from businesses and organisations such Wesfarmers, Telstra, ACOSS, the Australian Medical Association, the Indigenous Peoples Organisation, Farmers for Climate Action and many others at the cutting edge of climate action in their sectors.

The Better Futures Forum agenda includes sessions ranging from demonstrating society and economy-wide ambition; collaborative opportunities for driving further climate action; demonstrating contributions to Australia's share of the Paris Agreement; and more.

Join us as we engage on the defining issue of our time with people who are creating better futures now.
