Saturday, 27 May 2023 - 10:00am to 2:30pm
Strathbogie Memorial Hall 29 Main Street, Strathbogie
Taungurung Country
Victoria

The highly interactive workshop engages participants in the diversity, ecology and curiosities of the Kingdom Fungi.

The workshop begins with the opportunity for participants to explore a specimen table of mushrooms and other fungus resources collected from the Strathbogie Ranges. Participants will learn the basics of fungus identification, fungal ecology, and the natural and cultural history of fungi.

The session includes a presentation on the intricate and complex relationships between fungi and plants. Symbioses between fungi and plants are the secret to success in our highly variable climate and nutrient-deficient soils.

The foray follows the workshop session whereby participants head to the nearby forest to search for species of interest.

Participants are encouraged to bring along their own specimens for identification at the workshop.

Registration fee includes morning tea and lunch, dietary requirements accommodated.

As part of the same festival, further events will take place in Wooragee and Beechworth the weekend before, Friday 19 May to Sunday 21 May 2023.

We look forward to seeing you there!
