Melbourne Water are seeking environmental volunteers to help survey the waterbugs of Diamond creek. Macroinvertebrates (or waterbugs) are very important for the health of the our waterways. They are a key part of the food chain for animals such as the platypus, and can tell us a lot about the health of the ecosystem. You will learn how to collect and identifying live macroinvertebrates using the Agreed Level Taxonomy (ALT) process. Data collected will contribute to Melbourne Water's citizen science waterbug monitoring program and biodiversity records.
