The Australian National Development Index (ANDI) aims to develop an Australian national progress index ‘beyond GDP’, measuring equitable and sustainable wellbeing in Australia, based on extensive community engagement.

At this event, Mike Salvaris from the Australian National Development Index (ANDI) will talk about an Australian national progress index that goes ‘beyond GDP’ and measures equitable and sustainable wellbeing.

Mike, Director of ANDI, and, ANDI Ambassador, Prof Fiona Stanley are currently working with the community and government of Western Australia to develop a comprehensive state model of an applied community wellbeing index.

Mike Salvaris has worked for the past 25 years as an activist, academic and community researcher in the measurement of progress, wellbeing and human rights, with many Australian and international organisations governments, including the OECD, and the governments of New Zealand, Canada and Bhutan.

He is also a convenor of the Australian Hub of the international Wellbeing Economy Alliance (WEAll). He has a particular interest in the question ‘What kind of economy will best promote equitable and sustainable wellbeing?
